UPDATE!

I got stuff back in the 300R and prettied up. I think the final update will be when I get a fully modular PSU, but that will take quite a while (thanks money). I also had to get an IDE card that works with Windows 98SE, since that second DVD drive would not work, even though the jumpers and stuff were set up properly. So I took it out and put the blank back in.

I also had a helper.

This is awesome! It makes me want to do a build log with old hardware. I have an Asus TUSL2-C, P3 1.4GHz, 9800 pro and a CM 690 II laying around. Also 2 Celedon 300A @ 450 systems (Win 98 <3), a dual p2 350 server running linux and a random p3 800 system.

I threw out all my socket 370 coolers in 2009 though sadly. My 1.4GHz p3 runs at about 60c with the p3 800's stock cooler. :(

Yup. Wish I could afford an Enthoo Pro and a fully modular PSU, but then it wouldn't fit in my computer

I have a nostalgic moment, my first pc was an AMD 286x cpu, 40Mb hdd in a little beige desktop case and with a tiny monitor on top of it. My second one was a Celeron 433A with a Radeon 7200 agp video card. Right now I'm collecting parts for my retro build which is close by specs to my 3rd pc, it's an Athlon XP era with geforce 6600gt or 6800 graphics card. Will see how it goes.

I still use my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS and absolutely love the old thing, surprising enough it works under Windows 10 when I had that for a month. Would have thought it would loose support like the Live! series cards.

The thing is newer versions of windows can use drivers for older versions, which is why I'm able to use drivers meant for windows 95 in windows 10 as well

Haha ya a sound card should be a long term investment no matter how expensive it is (most of the time) so milking as much as possible out of it can be fun :D

Yeah, I got mine from a rig found off the side of the road. the PSU had blown and then after installing it in a slightly newer rig that PSU blew too. I think I'm gonna wait till I get a proper PSU this time before I use it again. I don't want it going bust on me any time soon.

I found that some really old server mobos will let you install CPU expansion cards. I'm very curious now.

I wonder if they make any that would fit some of the old processors I have, won't that be fun?

here's a pentium one: 713.lg.jpg

I don't know if it would just add on to my performance or act fully autonomously but it's still pretty cool.

just search "CPU card"

Anyway, I found one for LGA 775, funky looking connector though, lol

I think I saw a similar one in a router/industrial system a while back, connects to the rest of the board and has about 10 different expansion slots most of which were PCI
