If you don't need an OS preinstalled then the one linked below is the best one I can find at the moment, I'll have a better look if need be after work.

Laptops are not for gaming. Unless you buy one of those 1,500 dollar/euros. Desktops are way better if you want to game. Not only the display screen is bigger, but you could get it for cheaper. You can also build it for cheaper prices.

Get a desktop.

Get a console buaha, or a mini rig. Laptops are in no way for gaming (although I do light steam gaming on my ultrabook lol).

Hands are perfect cupholders.

For 500€ / 700€, it can be a bit hard to find a gaming laptop while on a bit tight budget. Sure you can find some well enough performing laptops for under 700€, but if you want to save the most money, the second-hand stuff could be the way to go. Second-hand laptops vary a lot in terms of prices and quality, though, but the savings can be somewhere from just few euros to several hundred euros.

Unfortunately I can't recommend any good laptops right now, but just pointing out that used ones can get more performance for your money.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

For that budget, you won't run newest games at newest settings via 1080p. Just giving you a heads up.

Just buy a cheap Lenovo or something. If you're planning to run Microsoft word and go on facebook.

Sorry to be a buzzkill but if there were many good and cheap gaming laptops the Build Logs sub forum would be much smaller.

And you might not even get time to play games in college.

I am looking for the same thing for my son. I have seen a Lenovo on Komplette for €499.  Link below.

http://www.komplett.ie/komplett/product/zkb-02pc/80014737/lenovo-ideapad-g-series-g505s-01035/details.aspx#tabpanel

I have emailed them today to ask if the details are correct.  It lists it with dedicated Radeon HD 8570M GPU.  If this is correct it is a little beast.

Also I saw this.

Let me know what you think.

Nothing to see here - move along.

Keep your desktop in your dorm?... Or just man up and carry it, get a cab, carry 5 bags instead of one. It'll be worth it...

Radeon HD 8570M? A beast? For a notebook of that price, it's good, but it's just slightly more powerful than Intel HD graphics 4600. Far from being a powerful GPU to run games at decent settings (by decent I mean low-medium settings at playable framerates, at even 720p)

Sorry but it is not, the integrated gpu with the A8-4500m is the 7640.

Much better than Intel. A friend uses a Sony I found for him and he can play BF3 on medium. It helps that these laptop screens are not full HD.

I would love just say yes I am but he is buying it with his own money. It was either a PS3, PS4 or a laptop. I tried to point him is the right direction.

Also I think I am just a 40 year old teenager. (My Nerf gun is bigger than his and modded so it hurts)

Nothing to see here - move along.

I was on that train 2.5 years ago when i was about to go to university. Get a Notebook they said, you will need it for unviersity they said.... Pff.

The gaming capabilities of a notebook are very limited, I'd rather go with a cheap 400€ notebook and pop a SSD in there and put the HDD into an external enclosure.

If you want to game, get a seperate desktop PC.

If you really have to have both in one, then go with MSI gaming notebooks. They're usually well priced and deliver good performance. You are gonna want to have an i5 with turbo boost though, an i3 is not gonna cut it! (personal experience)

I'd recommend one with a i5 and a GeForce GT 750/850 and 4 GB of RAM. Those 4 gigs of ram can usually be doubled for not much money down the road

who cares...

Not really but my two kids do play Minecraft together on the two machines we have in the lounge.  If he gets the laptop we can hook that in as well, add in a couple of friends with their laptops and we can have a little LAN party in my sitting room.

Happy days.
