Haha I'll see what I can do.  Hopefully I'll have some more parts arriving this/next week so I may be able to get things moving.  Expect lots of really cool stuff in April though.

Cheers!  Just practice with the rendering engine, if you haven't tried Cycles you definitely should.  It's completely free (although the GPU acceleration is only supported through CUDA sadly).

Those renders are literally better than real life :o I'm more exited about this build than any others!

This is such an interesting build.   Possibly one of the best i've seen on LTT  :)

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

Great concept! I would really like to see this finished and I hope you add some LED strips! I have a question about the machined part though. Is it a 2 layer piece and the liquid paths are sealed somehow?

Hiya, I have actually been thinking about how I might go about the lighting.  I recently won an RGB LED strip actually, after playing around with it I really like how it operates.  It's quite a large strip though so I'll probably use it in a separate build, but I may pick up a smaller one.  One lighting technique that could be interesting is lighting the coolant itself from within the acrylic.  I don't want to go overboard with lighting (as it's showy enough as is) so a subtle glow from the coolant could look good.  The RAM I'll be modding so that it has a golden light, rather than harsh white/blue, I'll tackle that when I get round to the gold plating.

 

As for the machined section.  It's comprised of two layers, with only one being shown in the pictures above.  The other layer is simply a flat panel that will be fastened behind, I'm currently having that laser cut.  I would have liked to make that bit myself, but sadly I don't own a CNC Router, meaning I wouldn't have any second chances if I were to make a mistake.  The paths will all be sealed in behind the panel using O-rings.

Of course don't go overboard with the lighting! The whole concept screams inner glow for me. Monsoon LED plugs may be usefull here. You are on the right path with the subtle light. Thumbs up!

How are you going to fasten the graphics card?

And how are you going to cover up the "fluid runs" and the reservoir in the acrylic? Another acrylic plate with a gigantic o-ring I presume, but are you going to use screws?

 

Also, I'd be really interested to see someone who renders stuff like this record it and put it on youtube or something. Not asking for a guide here but would be interesting to see something like this done, maybe even in superspeed.
