UOLTT: Operation Monarch (To Capture a <REDACTED>)

I was just watching this week's episode of Wingman's hanger, in the forum feedback section, one of the questions was about finding a lost Bengal carrier. It was mostly just repeating what has already been said but they said it would be "on the fringes, maybe in Vanduul space". I've been looking through the Star Citizen Wiki page at likely systems in and around that area. The criteria was for relatively sparsely populated systems with history of UEE-Vanduul conflict, these stood out: Tiber, Orion (both in Vanduul space) and Idris (UEE controlled). If we want to find a Bengal, then these 3 systems would be a good place to start looking.

Another question (I think it was in 10 for the Chairman)  was about in system travel, do we know how large these systems actually are (I suppose in terms of diameter would be easiest)? Because if they are "life size" as in 1:1 scale of real solar systems then that's an awful lot of space in each system to cover... Especially if scanning sensors don't pick up dead ships. I suppose then one way would be to organize a sort of system-by-system FOD walk to systematically search systems, visually, for the ship(s). Though it is very slow and labour intensive. That's unless there isn't a sort of known stellar graveyard left where a fleet battle once took place. That would be a more likely place to start.

Just watched that yesterday. Few tidbits of info that was intriguing.

I'm not suppose to speak too much on some of the discoveries we've made while digging through the RSI archives, but the systems you've listedn are definitely good choices. Tiber was my first, but from the sounds of Tiber it might not have too much traffic at all since it's kind of a mulching yard for Vanduul. But it was my original choice which got me interested in the KingShip itself. Orion, on the other hand, is a prime spot for the KingShip itself. Idris is definitely a possibility too. But again, I have found one prime location for the Bengal. Or a Bengal. We'll just see how it goes.

But thank you so much for the input. I'll be sure to read up much more on those three systems to see what I can dig up for OM and future operations. I'm always needing the outsource of information.

As for the system size, nothing confirmed. Some systems have zero planets, largest I've read about has 6 or 8. Given the size of a planet alone... And from the planet we saw in DFM. You can imagine they're huge. Many rumors are speculating maybe 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to cross an instance. Since each system is its' own instance, they can accomodate the immense size. How scanning systems relates to OM and other operations... It's kind of hard. We'll be asking the fleet to coordinate the location to myself, other people working on the operations and the HC. That way once we know, we can redirect and begin scouting operations. Since I'm in Salvage group, I'll be in the Vanduul system a lot so I'll be able to respond quickly.

For the fleet battle, there are actually a few locations, though the Grinder known as Tiber system is probably the closest to a ship graveyard. Mostly UEE parts from what I've read.

  • 2 weeks later...

Count me in as well, as part of the future LTT Military I wouldn't want to miss big fleet operations. (especially when it's one of the main reasons that led me to apply to a big Org)

Congrats on the report BTW (even if the redacted version is barely understandable, which is the point... Sounds like a badly tuned radio in my head), I love it !

One question, though, why is the Bengal not listed as a possible Command Flagship ? It seems perfect for that role (apart from being a big, obvious target for the enemy fleet ...), isn't there a special command room in it ?

"Medium to larger (e.g. Such as Constellation to Idris size.)"

Or do you only take into account the ships currently owned by members ?

We're not quite sure how the operation for the Bengal will go and we actually planned this one way before we even began talking about the Bengal, lol. It was something a few of us were talking about in chat which kept snowballing into what it is today. So at the time it was only based on ships we know we have or would likely have in the immediate future.

We do plan on trying to take a Bengal but there's a lot of stuff to work out, especially how we defend it since we will not be able to fly it in UEE space, or that is what we're expecting. When we actually make a final format of Operation Monarch we'll update it with Bengal information and potentials as well. This version was actually only released to bump our activity and morale for the fleet. The final version will likely not be made public like this one was and it will be very different than the first non <REDACTED> format we made.

All in all, thanks a lot for joining in on it! We're gonna need the help.

Okay, I had forgotten that the Bengal will probably not be allowed in UEE space, that's a problem indeed.

No problem, and by the way when I applied to LTT, I owned a Cutlass and said so in my description, but then I changed it to a Hornet F7C if you want to update you fleet statistics.

I suppose one thing we could do is about a day/days/week before we take the Kingship, we go for a Bengal or two for no other purpose than to secure the Kingship? I imagine it'd be more beneficial if we had better capital ships in the Operation. So even if we couldn't have the Bengal in UEE space, we could drift in the edge systems on it whilst we secure it before heading out for our main target.

The idea is good. A Bengal would improve success a ton and add so much more strategic advantage. Think of engineers on the Bengal ready to repair any fighter returning, or being able to use taht giant battery to disable escort ships. A ship of the Bengal's class would truly be a game changer.

Although I don't think we have enough people to manage both a bengal and a kingship, unless we work them with only a skeleton crew.

Yes! The Bengal will have a Command and Control room, I want to help control if possible. Hell, I am an S1 on VATSIM UK, I can control Ground positions now!

The point of the Bengal was to secure the Kingship, we'd drop or sell the Bengal afterwards, I imagine there's a poor sod somewhere who'd fork out the dough for the Bengal, we'd rake in some cash for the Org whilst netting ourselves a sweet capital ship to boot.

We will not get rid of the Bengal.

Ocelot is an active mission, but I'm taking a break after RS and Monarch, haha, since I'm working with LukaP on Dragon right now. But maybe in another... Month or so, we'll resume Ocelot and I'll start dropping some actual information on it.

If we have both a Bengal and a Kingship.  I am pretty sure we will have a huge target on our back from the UEE and other Orgs.  Getting these capital ships might prove to be the easy part.
