I'd like to see Linus Review OS X......

Ok, so most of the YouTubers out there use Mac as their day to day rig, Jonathan from TLDtoday, Lew from UnboxTherapy, Marques from MKBHD, Austin from Austin Evans channel and so on, except for........Linus.

 

No matter how much you hate Apple, there's got to be reason why so many people use OS X. 

 

I like Linus's reviews are a lot convincing and truthful. Not that other Youtubers are lying, but I always search for reviews done by the LinusTechTips channel or NCIXcom channel before I buy something so that I could get his opinion

 

So what I want to see Linus do is get a Mac, or build a Hackintosh with a help of TonyMacX86 since you must be having so many parts lying around collecting dust and use it for 1 whole month and post a video regularly expressing your thoughts on it without of course considering the price or whatsoever.

 

So why don't you guys (other members) like this post and bring it to the top so that Mr.TechTips himself could see this proposal.

 

UPDATE: I get that Linus does reviews of stuff thats only applicable to windows, but what I want is an honest opinion from him. The only reason I got really interested into computer hardware is because of him and I would like to hear his thoughts on it

 

UPDATE 2: I don't know what's happening here. All I'm trying to do is requesting Linus to do a review, but most people in this thread are acting like I came here to thrash down windows or something. It's whole android vs. iOS thingy going on here

 

UPDATE 3: For God sake, Mac is not as same as iOS. Its not closed, its as open as Windows. Most apple haters have commanded 'Oh you know Mac is closed and restricted'. No its not.....In fact Mac goes ahead of Windows with more personalization features like facebook and Twitter integration baked into it. And its not like you can't change Mac's theme like what you do in Windows. Its funny how so many people get agitated by the word 'Apple'

I wouldn't really put Linus in the same category as those guys. They don't do PC hardware videos like Linus, Tech of Tomorrow, OC3D, JayzTwoCents etc. etc. And I bet <- those guys don't edit on macs

well i myself have never used mac os and i never will, i have seen it a few times and i can't help but feel that it's just a terrible mess.. i don't see any harm in linus doing a review of it, i guess i wouldn't mind it but it would be very awkward, doing a review of an os can be as indepth as long as you want it to be, @LinusTech would probably focus on how intutitive it is and the aesthetics, i can however imagine it being a overall painfull exprience for linus and probably something that he doesn't want to do.

Oh, you're in charge of saying what the entire communtiy wants? Crap, must have missed the memo ..

 

You should change the title to "I want (or I'd like) to see Linus do an OSX review", or somewhere along those lines. A lot of the things that Linus cover only apply to PC and not Macs, considering that it's not an upgradable system as much as a PC. It's not really related IMO.

 

There are already quite good guides on how to build a Hackintosh, and with the big community around it it's not hard to find information and help.

You haven't used one. I own a MacBook and I'm loving it. And because of that I went through all the trouble of getting hackintosh and it's totally worth it. You should try it for a long time to see the benefits of using Mac over Windows. I do have a licesed copy of 8.1 but I always boot into OS X because its much more intuitive and user friendly

I would like to see a review of OS X by Linus, Maybe it isn't helpfull for full-on hardcore PC game enthusiasts but for other people it is. I myself use a MacBook Air for school and programming on the go. I really enjoy OS X because it has this organized and clean feel and look to it. It is fast and reliable. 

 

I wouldn't personnaly watch the video but i also wouldn't mind because it may help others!

on a windows machine it's really easy to find your way around the file system and you can get really deep into system setting within a second and from using IOS devices I know how Apple hates it when people try to do things like that

I have used it and in my opinion it is no more user friendly then windows. It is different but the interface is not better. But the way I see why would I use a different but not objectively superior OS when the other one has much better support for software and games. Plus your use of "We" in the title is very annoying to me and your formatting in the OP is also extremely obnoxious.

Most you watch use macs I can guarantee you tubers in general use pcs

I really can't help but wonder what part of OS X people think is a mess, because I feel exactly the opposite about it. The reason all these people use OS X is because there is no BS about it, every setting is in a place that makes sense, and if you for some reason still can't find it the search works incredibly well (much better than what Windows offer). On top of this you get no system crashes. I have owned my rMBP for 1.5 years now, used it extensively everyday and I have not had a single unexpected shutdown. I damn well can't say the same for my Windows desktop PC. The only reason why Windows is still relevant is software compatibility and a good portion of ignorance, period.

If you're referring to how people use Mac's for their supposed 'superior editing' you're obviously referring to final cut pro. It only has that reputation because windows solutions (vegas/Adobe AE/etc) were complete shit up until about 2 years ago, whereas Final Cut Pro USED to be better, but in recent updates (2012/2013) it has become the shit product, and at the same time, windows solutions have picked up their game and I think you will find the cookie cutter After effects and Vegas combo much better to work with.

Jeez, have you even tried to customize Windows a little bit before saying that? It's entirely up to the user. You can have a very clean Windows environment and a super dirty OSX environment. You can use a bunch of software to customize Windows even more, and that sort of thing.

 

I find it very funny that OSX user will talk about Windows as if it was Linux, as if it was required to be good with computers to handle it. Windows is quite user friendly, if you have trouble using with it then you probably aren't very good with computers, and most likely shouldn't take in the name of a whole tech community.

Soooooo, now it's not worth mentioning that people used it for editing in the first place..?

There is no real benefit to using osx for the same programs.

Get identical specs on 2 test benches, say a 3570k, gtx 770, and 16gb 1866mhz ram.

Get raw footage from fraps or a HD camera recording and render it in premier on both machines - tell me what takes longer. (hint: it's not windows7/8)
