Your Folding Rig(s)

out of curiosity... what are people's TPFs? (how long does it take to do 1%?)

also, how many steps do your work units typically have?

ESXi SysAdmin

I have more cores/threads than you...and I use them all

I personally have 3 different folding rigs for a total of 6 clients.

My first rig is my gaming rig with an i7 4770k @4.4 with 2 GPUs a 770 at 1392.2 mhz stable! and a 750ti 1302 mhz stable

my second rig has a fx 6300 which is not being used for fodling with a 770 at 1175 mhz

my third and final rig has a i7 6700k @ 4.7 Ghz @ 1.32 v and a GTX 980 ti at 1467 mhz stable

my second and third rig fold more than 12 hours a day (usually more) my gaming rig folds 16h+ a day on the CPU and 770 and pretty much 24/7 on the 750ti

So since I got a new power supply for christmas and I now have one left that has enough PCI power connectors for my 770, I threw one of them into a core 2 duo machine I had sitting around. I was too lazy to dig around for fan screws so why not use electrical tape :). And yes one of those fans are USB, I use it for a desk fan when my room gets too hot.

Only running at night and when I'm at work / school, but I got my 4790k @ 4.3GhZ and my 980Ti running at half-speed and I generate a fair amount of PPD.

How did you setup yout GPU to run at half-speed?

Well thanks to the Dual Xeons video and some extra hardware lying around the house. I put together 2x E5-2660 Sandy Bridges and a old R9 270X I average about 100k a day if I have to close door to keep the cat at bay or 218k PPD if I can leave the door open to have it heat the place. I also sometimes boot up my i7 4770k with the 970 but the 970 does not pull very well compared to the 270X no idea why, just does.

I don't have a folding rig, but I will surely build one in the future as a server system. If you want to know the represented specs (Since I know by then, that hardware can only be bought used), please let me know here.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but life. Anyways..

I have a Lenovo ThinkStation D20

2- Xeon x5667- Quad core, Dual thread, stock speed 306.6 GHz

2- Radeon HD 7900- running at stock

I'm getting roughly 250k ppd

The other stuff doesn't help folding, but it's cool.

96 Gb- DDR3 running at 1366

4- SanDisk Ultra II 960GB ssd's in raid 10

1 WD Red 4tb hd

I have about $2k in the tower, and yes 96 GB of ram is over kill, but I throw my games on a 64GB RAMdisk since my ssd speed is limited by the sas port speed. Most of it I purchased on sale or foung a great deal on ebay. I have it running 24/7 except when I'm gaming, which doesn't happen as much as I would like. Hope you've enjoyed. I want to do more, but bills.

Dell Laptop (i7-3520m) running 24/7

Dell Laptop (i7-4712HQ/K1100M) running at night

Desktop (i7-4790k/GTX 780 Ti) running when not using the system (~16 hours/day during the week and ~8 hours/day on the weekend)

I am getting ~250K ppd.

Considering getting the home server (FX-6300/R7 240) folding but power concerns are becoming real.

That case is literally the cheapest case on pcpp last time I checked. (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xion-case-xon310bk)

EDIT: Lel 3 911 posts.

I noticed I never replied to your post :P Yea I think it is also the cheapest case on Amazon, but ya quality was not what I expected for the cheapest case you can nearly buy.

I'm interested to know the Hardware setup of the Team's top folders, and if more than one machine/Device is contributing, what they are.

I'll kick off.  My setup is as per my signature, with the addition of a 2nd GPU, which is an Asus 780Ti Strix.  Both my GPU;s are Core O/Clocked and the 780Ti is factory mem overclocked (7200Mhz)

Off topic, what's happened to PrimalNaCl ?
