Top secret MSI laptop is the GS60

Diljot

The laptop that Linus seemed really excited about from his msi systems booth video from ces has been deemed the GS60 according to MSI's facebook page. There isn't really any info on specs, just the name.

It's a name for a future laptop the one they showed off at CES was still being worked on therefore that prototype is a very early version of the GS60 the design is not even finalised nobody should be excited for a name

I want one, but what's the point when I can build an ITX desktop with better performance for the same price.

Yea. I dont see the point in gaming laptops. When are you getting yourself a proper rig?

Never. Just my netbook's HDD was killing me, and now the CPU is bottlenecking the SSD. :(

I might coax my mom into making it my birthday/Christmas present.

The point is that it can run off of battery and is actually portable. I'm gonna need a laptop for uni anyways, so might as well get this one.

get a huge ass ups, store it in a luggage case along with your rig. Now you got a portable rig. And slap a 17inch IPS monitor on the side of the case for added portability

It's "portable" but not nearly practical enough to bring to class to take notes and game on the weekends which is what I think this guy is aiming for. Not to mention you're going to need a KB+M to bring with you which makes it even less portable than just a heavy laptop that can game fairly well.

Slightly off-topic, but I got a Gigabyte P35k last week. And while it is unfortunately larger than most 15.6" laptops (large bezel around screen), the screen itself is amazing (IPS Panel), the keyboard is a joy to use, and best of all, it has an almost 5 hour battery! I'm not kidding, I got 4:42 out of it at work two days ago...

Oh, and the fact that you can swap-out the ODD for a fourth drive (2 mSATAs + 2 2.5" total) while still being really thin is also a perk! :)
