EVGA, how great are they?

Lord Pantaloons

Turner.

Not the same field but they have amazing customer service. I bought a used mountain bike frame, rode it for a while and it developed a crack. Keep in mind this frame at the time was 5 years old, 2 years outside of warranty (which is only available to the original owner).

I emailed them, they said send it on down. They stripped the frame, fixed the crack, and power coated it. Not only that I got to choose any color I wanted out of the ones they offer. They also put new decals on the frame, and replaced the bearings.

Best customer service I've ever had.

I would argue that fantastic customer service is even more important in the bike industry because frames are bloody expensive and potentially much more dangerous to the user. For my example of a baller warrant I raise you osprey pack, no matter how old the pack is or how many owners it has had you can send it back and they will fix it. You don't even need proof of purchase. The proof of purchase thing really saved my ass when mine died.

Now with the rumors of the 800 Series coming out, I know what manufacturer my 800 Series card will come from.

EVGA are great, makes me happy to know that if my 780 stops working I should get any trouble from them, unlike ASUS that told me that a 300w psu would work with a gtx 780 lol.

-UPDATE-

Ok so it's been awhile since this thread has been updated and that's because I didn't really think it would be necessary to update it at any point unless something crazy like my 760 upgrade happened again. That however has not happened, I was not magically upgraded to 9xx cards and I didn't have something else amazing happen to me. In fact it's quite the opposite, now before I begin I will say that my situation is extraordinarily unique in that not only have I had so many problems but that I have in a way only benefited from them and while I respect EVGA for their work now and in the past I cannot continue to vouch for them in the way that I have been up to this point.

You all know that I was upgraded from my 660 Ti's to 760's what you don't know is that I recently had to RMA one of them for a series of failures of the card that culminated in it becoming unusable. The RMA went smoothly and I received my replacement card within the expected time frame. The only problems were that there was only one screw holding the shroud to the heatsink causing the shroud to hang down by about 2.5cm putting it in danger of hitting the fan while it was spinning. In addition there was a blemish of some kind on two of the VRAM chips that are very worrying, I was annoyed but after a quick call and exchange of pictures a replacement screw was sent out. Today I received that screw and it didn't fit plain and simple the threads were not the correct match and while the head of the screw matched others on the card it just was never going to fit. After calling EVGA today and expressing my displeasure in as calm a manner as I was able a cross ship RMA was set up to replace the card entirely, I'm now waiting for it to be approved and moved to the next step.

This has basically done it for me, I will not be buying any more EVGA products for the foreseeable future and I will be more wary about recommending them to others in the future too. They don't make bad products or at least I don't want to believe that they do but my experience has tested and broken my ability to forgive. EVGA is still trying to rectify the situation and I will update this thread when the new card arrives to inform you of whether or not they were able to fix this unfortunate situation but that will be it. When I look to upgrade I will be looking towards other companies in hopes that they can provide me with what I'm looking for when it comes to graphics cards.

The missing screw

Blemish on the VRAM chip, there was a similar one on another chip on the opposite side of the card as well.

-UPDATE-

So here is another update for you guys, and frankly this has gotten ridiculous. The replacement card arrived and in addition to being in one piece it also can clock match my other card so good news right? WRONG!

My new GPU has a faulty fan that makes an obnoxious noise loud enough to be heard outside my 550D with my window AC unit on. The GPU that I'm sending back as part of my cross ship RMA hasn't even left the bloody drop off where I left it this morning. I didn't want to set up another RMA and have this card replaced by a lower binned one but EVGA can't send out just coolers. So tomorrow after the tracking for the other GPU registers I have to call back to set up another RMA to get another card that I can remove the cooler off of and replace with the faulty one from my card and then send the other one back. On top of all that I boot up after putting the card back in my rig and all of my mouse profiles were gone.

FsNsOP4.gif

^Me after finding the source of the noise.

^Noise it makes^, don't bother complaining about the video quality or anything. I don't fucking care.

Is it motor noise or is the fan hitting any of the fins?

Motor/bearing noise, it's not hitting anything.

Does it need to break in? Do fan motors need to do that?

EVGA <3 I will never buy a card from anyone else. I also want to try their mouse.

Have the mouse.  0/10 doesn't like cheese

In all seriousness, it's a kickass mouse, I recommend it.

Mini update

The tracking number for the other card kicked in so I was able to submit my other RMA, It was insta-approved and should be on the way in a few days. Then I can switch the coolers on the cards and hopefully be done with this whole dammed mess.

UPDATE

I got the replacement card and switched the cooler to my defective card. So far so good, there seems to be no issues so hopefully this will be the end of it. I'm really tired of dealing with this.
