Linus Tech Tips Notifier for Firefox (EOL)

I'm getting message that there's new notification between last update and time I mark all read. Or something like that. But it never shows the one notif that is (supposed to be) there. And since its going away so quickly I can't really read what it says either.

When you mark notifications read, the addon marks the notifications read, the loads the notifications again. If the first notification doesn't match the first notification last time, the addon displays a notification indicating that there are new notifications, though it doesn't know how many. The new notifications wouldn't appear to be read.

If you're sure that the addon is making a mistake, can you check that you're on v1.1.3 of the addon and not a beta version. If you're not, I fixed an issue to do with that in that version, so could you update using the link on the first page.

If you are on the latest version and you are still having issues, could you reproduce the issue, then go to settings -> debug -> copy debugging data -> yes, then send me the data in a pm using a code tag for the log.

When you mark notifications read, the addon marks the notifications read, the loads the notifications again. If the first notification doesn't match the first notification last time, the addon displays a notification indicating that there are new notifications, though it doesn't know how many. Seems like I was still using the beta version 1.1.0b3. Now its the correct version, will see what happens.

Ok now I do have newest version and its still appearing. But this time I screenshot it :) It's not really that bad thing but bit wierd since it tells that there is new notifications between the last update and time that I mark them read. Even though there aren't.

notif.jpgThanks. I think it might be a forum issue, where for some reason the order of the notifications is swapped sometimes. There's nothing I can do about it, but once the bad notification has filtered out, it should start working properly again.

I want to say that it's probably just that the forum isn't updating the number of notifications fast enough (you must have a good internet connection), though I can't be certain. To check, just refresh the forum page that loads, and it should update to have 0 unread notifications. Hopefully.

Speed isn't issue. I'll check that other thing when it happens again. Its not always, like right now when there was only 1 notif, all was normal.

Is this the only time this error has occurred, or does it happen every time? If it only happened once, I believe it's a random Firefox issue that I can't do much about but that doesn't happen very often.

This is the first time it has happened, but it hasn't fixed itself yet.

 

EDIT: It isn't connecting to anything it seems, no links work either.

If you haven't restarted your browser or the addon since the error, you need to do that - the error indicated that the addon crashed. It might look like some bits still work, but that's only because that's how firefox addons work.

Ok, since forums are back to normal this is legit complain. The Mark read function on addon side doesn't work at all. Not the automatic one, not pressing icon. It reads the read and not read fine, though.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. I'm not sure why it's not working, but I will look into it later and I might release a bug fix release if necessary.

EDIT: The error is in the addon, but I don't know why it's only become an issue now. What version of Firefox are you using?

Button works. Your links continue to give me errors for some reason. I can get beta versions from Development channel so this isn't big issue.

Hey guys I just got a msg from the addOn to report a bug so here I'm

 

Im using Windows 7 Enterprise and Firefox 37.01  using a bunch of other addons as well

  • Privacy Badger
  • Last pass

AddOn has been working fine with all those addOns till today. Now  if I click the add on it empty it has no info at all of any video

Hey guys I just got a msg from the addOn to report a bug so here I'm

 

Im using Windows 7 Enterprise and Firefox 37.01  using a bunch of other addons as well

  • Ublock
  • Privacy Badger
  • Last pass
  • HTTPS Everywhere
  • TextArea
  • Greasemonkey
  • Selenium IDE

AddOn has been working fine with all those addOns till today. Now  if I click the add on it empty it has no info at all of any video

Thanks. As far as I know, this is a rare bug with Firefox 37 that there's not much I can do about. It should be resolved by just restarting firefox or disabling and re-enabling the addon.

That issue seems to be a rare firefox bug, which you can fix by just disabling and re-enabling the addon, or by restarting firefox. I don't know why it crashes like that, but I don't think there's anything I can do about it.

The LTT Notifier fails to run as of Firefox 40 (currently in alpha). I am aware of the issue, and was already working on a replacement (I was using deprecated code), but I wasn't very far into it. The replacement will drop support for all versions of firefox prior to 38 (which released yesterday).

Unfortunately, I currently have exams, so I don't have much time to work on it, so users of FF40+ may not have an LTT notifier for a few weeks. Sorry :(
