ASUS Z97M-PLUS VS H97M-PLUS

Go to solution Solved by Noyu,

"closing", I realized there's no point comparing the 2 since the Z97 will almost always win..

Ill make a new thread asking to compare the H97M-Plus with a similarly priced Z97M. (maybe the GA-D3SH)

Good Day,

Here I go again with my questions. It's like "Month 2" for me of planning a build. ahahahahahahaha

Anyhoo,

Weeks ago I decided that I will be going for a G3258 + Z97M combo (that Z97M will be the ASUS Plus).

Reason behind this is to keep a mobo open for i5K or i7K ugprades.

But then I realized that my build would not make sense anymore since supposedly it's a "budget"-oriented build.

So I finally decide that if I were to upgrade, I'm going with a locked i5 or i7.

Now here's the catch, the H97M-Plus has basically the same specs as it's Z97M brother, except the chipset.

How does this affect overclocking performance (and experience) on a G3258??

Price difference is about 1000-1200PhP which would be 22-26 USD. Large enough to be discussed.

I am 100% sure that IF I upgrade to an i5/i7, I'm going for an unlocked one.

Discuss.

P.S. For people who do not know yet, you can also overclock the G3258 on specific non-Z boards like the ASUS H97M-PLUS.

The h97 doesn't have official support for OC but you can still OC.

is it worth the difference for a G3258?

whopping 4.8GHz stable on an H81M board. Soo I'm guessing I MIGHT be able to do this with an H97.
