Pokémon Crystal Starter Pokémon

Go to solution Solved by Vitalius,

Since all 3 of the second gen starters typings at their last evolution are still pure (i.e. fire, water, or grass), I'd say Cyndaquil.

Why? Because Fire yo.

Steel was added in 2nd Gen. Weak to Fire of course. Grass, Ice, and Bug are all weak to it as well.

Only Rock & Water are strong to Fire. Compare this to Grass with only strengths to Rock/Ground & Water while having weaknesses to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug types.

As for Water, strong to Ground/Rock and Fire, but with weaknesses to only Electric & Grass.

If you are only using starter pokemon, then Totodile. It's best solo starter because of it's move set and because high HP & Defense. Muy importante when it comes to soloing.

On a typing basis, Fire is king, but Cyndaquil's moveset is kinda crappy.

Which one do you think I should pick and why?

Cyndaquil - Fire

Totodile - Water

Chikorita - Grass

Edit:

Please use poll.

I am considering using only Starter Pokémon.

Cyndaquil.

You don't get many fire Pokemon in Jotho, he will help you through the Ice gym and the Ice cave.

You can get water types easily too, Quigsire master race

I am thinking of only using Starter Pokémon.

With this in mind would Cyndaquil still be a good decision?

I have heard that Totodile max evolution is best at solo.

I like Chikorita purely because of how early it learns Razer leaf.

Johto starters will very rarely make it to my final party.

I normally use the starter until I get Geodude and then spam magnitude/earthquakes

Edit: there is a gameshark code that lets you chose all 3 if you can't decide, you could also go the nuzlocke route for decision making "If the last number is 1-3 the player starts with a Grass type, 4-6 is Fire type, 7-9 is Water type, 0 is the player's choice." It of course won't help if you get a 0.

I forgot to make poll when I started this thread so please vote there.
