LED Strips for TV

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

Ultimately, I only need RGB leds that I can change the color of manually. While the LEDs that sync with the content on your tv is cool, it seems a bit overkill.

A set like theses would work perfectly and suit your needs:

I am mounting my TV on a white wall and figured that accent lighting behind it would make it look better. I was hoping someone knew of good RGB light strips I can get to stick behind my TV. One of the things narrowing down my search is that I don't have 12v power meaning the strips need to run off of either 5v USB or have a transformer for 120v AC.

Most leds are 12 volt, and there are many cheap wall to 12 volt wall adapters. Are you looking for just rgb leds or something in sync with your TV?

Ebay is your friend here :D I bought 5050 RGB LEDs(better than 3528) and grabbed some cheapo 120W (220v-12v) power supply and they work really well... Have them setup behind my table

You can buy this: http://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Waterproof-300LEDs-Flexible-Controller/dp/B00B2F3KDQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438048799&sr=8-1&keywords=rgb+led+strip

It comes with the adpater so all you need to do is plug it in, plus it has an IR remote to control the color and brightness. I have seen these being used a lot.

I used the supernight brand personally, ran 4 strips around my ceiling edge, ran it in my PC, and working on a 8 strip set up to use in a gazebo.

Thanks so much.

Just make sure to use a regulated 12V transformer to ensure it's a constant and steady 12V supply.

OH! Here's a guide, just install them on the back of your TV instead of what this guy is doing.
