Best ways to cool a gpu

Go to solution Solved by StormMercenary,

add some more fans to the case

or if you want

reapply the thermal paste to the gpu heatsink

I might just try both, thanks for the help

I have a msi r9 280x and it is running rather hot and very loud. Are there any good ways to cool a gpu?

check the airflow in your case, it might be starved for fresh air.

For example I have a NZXT H440 which is a really restrictive case. Removing the front panel can lower my GPU temps by up to 10 degrees

Go to antartica or just get some more fans for the case or a gpu water cooler or a custom watercooling loop

I have a In Win Gt1 with stock fans and 2 noctua fans

Can you remove the drive cages to get more airflow to the GPU?

Clean any dust build up

Bottom intake and side intake(if you have the mesh side panel) can help cool the GPU.

obvious question is obvious but.... how long has it been since it has been cleaned? could simply be dust clogging the heatsink.

Liquid nitrongen, as it actually cools the GPU instead of just moving the heat away. On a more realistic note, manually turn up the fan speed, buy new/more fans and clean the case for dust. Which is pretty much all you can do, short of water cooling it or buying an air condition for the room in which your PC is in.

Motherboard: Asus X570-E
CPU: 3900x 4.3GHZ

Memory: G.skill Trident GTZR 3200mhz cl14

GPU: AMD RX 570

SSD1: Corsair MP510 1TB

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

PSU: Corsair AX860i Platinum

My only problem with turning up the fan speed is that is gets really loud.

I have a Winforce R9 280.  I get into the low 60s when gaming... never seen it hit 65.  I have 7 case fans though.

I usually try to clean my pc every few months so I don't have overheating problems

Im still learning about these things but maybe make sure the fans in ur system are clean , check the fans on the card itself and look for more dust , maybe get some more fans , make sure there is good air flow so if the PSU cords are just running around inside maybe clean it up and zip tie them in the back part of the case. And what is the temperature im ur room , that could possibly be 1 things that's going on.

What else is there to say i am to n00b to understand computers so yea...
