BenQ GL2450 LED Monitor - HDMI Problem

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

I have the same monitor, seems like they shipped out a few with the "auto detect input" feature set to off. Connect your PC via VGA, then open the monitor menu with the buttons on the side and go to the last tab, there are a few input setting you might wanna set to "auto" or "on". After that HDMI will work.

I very quickly got annoyed and incompetent with using a 10 year-old square Dell monitor, so I decided it was time for an upgrade.  I went with the BenQ GL2450 LED monitor, as it was the most affordable 24" monitor I could find that would match the style of my PC.  I immediately ran into a problem when I tried to connect it to my desktop PC with an HDMI cable.  I turned on the PC, but the monitor was not detecting it and a message displaying said "No signal detected!" and the screen went on to sleep after a few seconds.  So I tried to connect the monitor with a VGA cable, and it worked.  But this was a problem as my GPU has only one VGA slot, and I wanted to use the square montior as a second monitor, but the square monitor is VGA only.

Frequently, I am running into problems (e.g. wishing I could play a game and watch a video at the same time, or for playing a game whilst on a skype call) that I would not have ran into if I had the second monitor connected.  But unfortunatley I cannot figure out what is wrong.

Just to let you know, I am 100% sure that it is nothing to do with my HDMI port on my GPU or the HDMI cable, as I tried connecting my PC to the family TV downstairs (with the exact same cable) and it worked perfectly.

Thanks in advance

Alex
