Gigabyte R9 270X sli?

Go to solution Solved by Atmos,

First off.

Get more ram before even considering ANY other upgrade. 4gb is not enough period.

Then move on to getting a better cpu. a 4440 or 4350 will give you miles of difference in performance, and not bottleneck to such a large degree a better gpu.

After you've done those two things, then get a better gpu. Something along the lines of a 280X, or a 280, or 960 2gb. Or, you can then follow what you want here, and get another 270X for crossfire. It will still not run Witcher 3 at max settings 60fps, but it will give you quite a lot more performance.

I am building a pc and I already ordered everything except the GPU. I found the Gigabyte r9 270x and I have enough money to buy 2. Should I buy 2? I am going to use this PC as my main gaming rig. I wanna be able to play all games and get at least 60FPS at 1080P like dayz, Arma 2-3, witcher 3, GTA 5 etc.  Here are my specs:

- Case: Corsair 350D

- CPU: AMD Athlon x4 860K black edition
- Mother board: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H
- RAM: Corsair 4gb 1333mhz ( I am getting another 8gb stick)
- PSU: Corsair CX series CX600 600W.
- HDD: 360 gb ( I am planning on upgrading)

It's going to be bottlenecked though.....

Also, it's called Crossfire, not SLI.

No, if you have that much money you should be getting a more balanced build. If I were you I would return CPU and mobo and get an i3+R9 280/X instead

Your better off getting a 290x lightning from MSI if you wanna stay on team Red, and then spend the savings on more ram. in the end unless you are in near top tier or at top tier gpu crossfire/sli dont make sense, no if you on the other hand already own a mid range gpu then sli/crossfire makes sense for EXISTING upgrade, but two mid tier gpu will only sometimes out perform top tier gpu. and still to this day single gpu is more stable.

290X with 860K isn't a good pair....

CPU bottleneck.
