It will handle 2 Way SLI fine. 8x Will not degrade the performance by a fraction. The mobo supports up to Quad SLI. (This should not be confused with Four WAY SLI)

Hey guys

 

I want to buy an AsRock Z97 Extreme4 motherboard, but I'm not sure if it's capable of SLI.

It sais, that the PCI-E slots are 8x/8x is that enough for two GTX 970s in SLI, or do I need full 16x/16x?

I don't really understand what 8x/8x means.
