Buying New Laptop Help

Hey guys, this is Austin.. Just kidding. This is my first time on here and I'm here because I need help. I will have close to $1000 in less then a month. My current laptop is an HP nw8440. I got it used from craigslist and got it mainly because it was the only laptop i saw with a dedicated graphics card, under 100 dollars. I got it 6 months ago and now its time for an upgrade. I can't play the games I want on this laptop other then League of Legends at about 30 FPS. My laptop also peaks at around 98 degrees C when gaming and crashes when I'm using software like Inventor or Solidworks. I do have a desktop that I got from a friend. All it needs is a power supply. It's an Intel dual core, 6gb of RAM and has a gts450 graphics card. I haven't used it yet but I don't think investing anymore into it is a great idea because I need portability and power. Im going into college next year so I don't want a laptop that is to big. 'm looking to spend around $600, but I can spend more. Looks arent very important, although metel is nice, as well as backlighted keyboards and such. My big question is, what do I get? An i7? and i5? and Amd? Whats the best graphic choice? Amd apu? Intel i7 integrated, like HD 5500? I think my best bet is an i7-5500u with geforce 820m 2gb. with 8gbs of RAM. right? Please, Please, Please help me. I want power and gaming. I just dont know what graphics option is best.

Thank you

I like my laptop.

Asus is good. If you go down the AMD route like me, get an a10 or an FX APU.

Get a laptop with a ssd,

(I don't know how i'll lived without it)

Don't get more than 8Gb of Ram. (NO need)

Get something thin and has good battery. (ultrabook)

Windows 8.1 really has sped that aspect up, but the SSD edition is 1300. so they would have to sacrifice video performance for an ssd

I have an Asus K53E and I really like it. I know it is a couple years old but you can get them for cheap and it is Intel based (Core i5) but no dedicated GFX card..

LOL an FX isn't an APU... APU= Processor and graphics in one piece... An FX is just the CPU If I'm correct :P
