Razer Leviathan worth it for a small 5.1 setup?

Go to solution Solved by Stagea,

I'll upgrade my speaker system (soon) for my computer and TV (So no big setup, just small, plain, simple)

Then I came across the Razer Leviathan (A 5-speaker soundbar + 1 subwoofer = $199)

is the system worth for my need?

A sound bar can work as long as you set your expectations right. A true 5.1 setup is almost always better (at least for directional audio).

If you're into bars, this might be worth a look too:

You'd want the extra width on a sound bar to provide an immersive environment (for some audible channel separation). The Razer seems too narrow for anything more than desktop use.

Do you want a soundbar instead of true surround? Sure, it would work and would sound "fine". But $200 in audio is $200 in audio....in Home Theater terms, that's not much.

It's not much of a Home Theater, I just want a convenience setup to listen to music and such, no need to go HT because it's going to be in my room

Can you give me the name of the product so that I can google?

It's not accessible where I live

  • 2 weeks later...

You'd be better off purchasing a Logitech system and paying someone $50 to set it up. That is, if your trouble is setting it up. If you just don't want to mount things, don't. Get wall adhesive stuff, or duct tape it.
