New CPU + GPU or Only GPU

Go to solution Solved by nvidia_gtx,

an i5 4670k is perfectly acceptable, maybe get a $100 dual rad and overclock a bunch, then get a high end 970 or a 980

Hey guys, so im in the market for some upgrades, but im not sure what to go with.

Option 1) Upgrade my cpu from an i5 4670k to an i7 4790k and buy a 370-400$ GPU (possibly a 300 series card when released)

Option 2) Only buy a 470-500$ GPU

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

CPU:I5 4670K   GPU:Radeon HD 7850 2 GB (To be upgraded)   RAM:2 x 8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3   Motherboard:MSI Z97S SLI Plus

No need to upgrade the CPU. Just get an 980 or 290x

grab the GPU when the 300 series comes out
