xSplit; What makes it worth $5 a month over 100% FREE OBS?

Tro
Go to solution Solved by tp95112,

Lets think of it like this. The main purpose for OBS and xsplit is to get the image on your screen to the person watching. If obs does that and is free then there isnt really a reason to get xsplit for $5 a month

I've been looking around in both programs and apart from the nicer layout and general visuals I couldn't find any advantages that made it worth $5 a month.

OBS is 100% free, It just looks a little simpler.

Can anyone convince me It's worth the monthly subscription?

Also xSplit free has a max of 30fps, which is ridiculous IMO.

I've heard that OBS is a lot more complex, but if you figure out how to use it it works great.

Soooo.... Do you think the ease of setting up xSplit is worth the subscription?

For some people it might.

obs really isnt complex. Last time i tried Xsplit (before i got into obs) i couldn't figure it out at all. Obs however i was able to jump in and get started in minutes with at least basic functionality. Everything that Xsplit does, (or most everything, anything they make noise about in ads) obs already does.

I guess try out OBS for a bit and see if you can handle it? I've never used either software, so I'm a poor resource for advice, so that's all I've got I guess.

I'm actually not interested in this software, I was just curious why xSplit was a payed service.

I do use OBS sometimes to record gameplay, not a lot though.

I use obs, but I use xplit from time to time and it syncs your social media to help you spread the word. You can simply just tweet, post on face book etc, I get that, and so I still don't know about 5 dollars, but it is more pleasing to the eye I guess. Idk, that might be some reasons, convenience.

OBS is better.

Opinion. Don't give subjective answers without justifying why; doesn't help anybody.

OBS is better if you're willing to put some effort into setting it up when you install it.

xSplit is better if you're not willing to / don't understand how to set stuff up.

I'll say it's better if I want to say it's better.

Xsplit has free versions. Id suggest you run a few test streams and see if the money is worth it. OBS' advantage is that its free and open source.

Well yes OBS is good for general streaming and such but Xsplit is much more geared towards professional casts for like tournaments and big events.
