Help me pick a motherboard for the i7-4790k

Go to solution Solved by Octavialicious,

There are 4 different ones on amazon, which one would you recomend? xD

Here ya go http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GA-Z97X-SOC-CrossFire-Precise-Motherboard/dp/B00JKCHERQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424616272&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+z97x+soc

Like I said this did wonders for my GPU cooling :) Oh, and it's also a splendid overclocking board! I couldn't be more in love haha

If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask.

I have four specificatons that my motherboard will need and I was hoping somone could help me find one that has them all.

1. It has to be compatible with the Intel i7-4790k processor.

2. It needs to be able to run 2 way SLI with 2x GTX 980.

3. It needs to have a sufficient ammount of fan connectors spread out across the board. I will have 4 fans up top, 1 back, 2 front, and 4 on the bottom.

4. The board has to have enough room to fit both  the graphics cards as well as a sound card without sitting to close and making the components run too hot.

This is the case I will be using: http://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-Aluminum-Ultimate-Computer-PH-ES813P_BL/dp/B00EB0A6FE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424614169&sr=8-1&keywords=phanteks+enthoo+primo

Thanks! :)

My vote goes to the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC

You can run the 980s in the first and third slot for extra cooling :) And there isn't enough fan connectors, but no motherboard has that many. You have to get fan splitters ;)

You'll need a fan splitter for that amount of fans. Most boards have only 5 or 6 3-pin connectors.

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 or the Gigabyte Gaming 7 are some pretty good boards.

But there so many out there that have LGA 1150, Z97 and enough space for two graphics cards.

Yeh I know, then it really just comes to the price. :)

Well, it's just easier to say that I wish to spend around $150-$250 on a motherboard ;)

I think that it was better for you to get recommendations on ALL the components...

Anyways, it depends on your color scheme.
