Lagging in games

Go to solution Solved by Guest Kloaked,

The GPU seems to be locking itself at 539.8 Mhz and it is about 59 degrees celcius.  I don't understand what is going on

Are your GeForce drivers up to date?

Hi people of LTT!

Im Pkron and I am having some trouble with gaming.  I have a gtx 980 and an i7 5820k, and for some reason, I am only getting around 47 fps in BF4 on ultra.  I have no idea what is wrong and this only started over the past weekend.  Does anybody have any ideas why this may be happening?

Thanks for the help!

Make sure you plugged your monitor into your graphics card and not into the back of your motherboard otherwise you will be using intel's integrated graphics.

Check for malware too, view your GPU usage and running/statup programs.

Wow.  Thanks for the quick answer.  I know that it is plugged into the GPU, because this problem just started.  I am going to play with the sensors up for a few minutes, then I will get back to you.

Download HWMonitor and check your temperatures. Could possibly be a result of thermal throttling.

No problem!

Check your GPU usage under HWMonitor or MSI afterburner.

Use malwarebytes or eset online scanner then check your running/startup programs.

That's really weird, did you overclock the card?

Try resetting clocks & raise the fan speed to 100% then run something like furmark.

If you're clock speeds are still that low I really have no idea. Update drivers?

Apparently not, I am downloading it now, then I will launch up BF4 and try again.

Im updating the driver now.  I did overclock, and the fan is set to automatic.  It isn't turning on though...  I dont know why.
