Go to solution Solved by KTFO|SGTmoody,

You can either:

Setup an FTP server on the XP machine and download an FTP client on the windows 8 machine and coppy files that way.  Use filezilla for this.

Or plug the windows xp hard drive in to the windows 8 pc either by a spare sata connection or buy buying a usb to sata/IDE converter.

You havent realy said.  Im guessing they are seperate computers?

As the title says i need to be able to transfer data off of my win xp hard drive to my win 8.1 hard drive.

Unfortunately I have to be able to transfer it over offline ethernet, since i can't afford a portable hard drive, let alone any adapters at this point in time, the soonest i could would be several weeks, but i need that data over within this week.

I did a little research but the windows transfer tool seems to not work at all in 8.1.

So i decided to post here, where some of you might have already gone through something similar already, instead of continuing the nauseating google searches.

Nothing to see here, move along
