[UK] Review My PC Build

Go to solution Solved by Lotus,

The FX-6300 is just not a good choice. It has such poor single threaded performance that it will bottleneck the GTX 970 in lots of games. Plus the expensive (ish) mobo and need for a good aftermarket CPU cooler makes the platform unnecessarily expensive.

This build uses an i5-4460, which is only a tiny bit more for the platform since you can use a cheaper motherboard and the stock cooler. To compensate, I changed the PSU to the EVGA 500B since thats more than enough for this system and modularity is unnecessary with the hidden PSU compartment of the S340.

-I am living in the UK and I have a budget of £850

-I am building a gaming PC that can run games at 1080p and high settings no problem.

-The budget includes the monitor and excludes the OS

This is what I have come up with: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/tnttimelord/saved/Lcwj4D

Please let me know about bottlenecking and other problems that could arise

Thank you.

If you're only gaming at 1080p, then you could go with an Intel build and one of the new GTX 960 GPUs. ;)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Added one here. I ripped off your spec and altered it somewhat.
