Does this psu auto configure voltages

Evga
Go to solution Solved by Altecice,

Ok I mean will this auto configure my whole systems power draw/voltage

All a Power Supply does is supply a constant voltage and amps through its wires. Its up the the VRM's on the motherboard or whatever part requires the power to modulate the amps/watts. So yes.

Getting a new graphics card and need to know if this psu auto configures the voltages for me: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/components-upgrades/other-components/power-supplies/corsair-builder-series-cx500-atx-psu-500-w-19736920-pdt.html

the psu will output 12v continuously to the card, and then the card will do the rest to adjust voltages.

Edit*  also, how did you get the forum name "Evga"... thats funny.  :P

unless your system requires more than 500W pf power, than yes.

It's not the best in the world, but it's noticeably better then the Corsair CX for the same price. My reasoning? The Corsair is built by CWT who use cheap capacitors, mostly Teapo and Capxon, in their PSUs. The Antec Neo ECO is a variant of the High Current Gamer, therefore based on the Seasonic S12II platform. These power supplies, made by Seasonic who unlike CWT are reputable for making power supplies, use higher quality capacitors. Most of the capacitors in the Antec are Japanese parts, and only a few Taiwanese caps will be found in less important areas like secondary lines. This is the kind of setup you find in Corsair's much "higher end" RM series, not the budget CX.

Not only is the Antec better built for the same price as the Corsair, it also performs better. It outperforms the CX in every area that you would look for advantages in when choosing a power supply of higher quality. These include voltage regulation on all rails (3.3V, 5V, 12V), ripple suppression, and other areas such as temperature and hold-up-time.

I don't see how it is "annoying" when I'm suggesting a better product, and I only said it once.

In my experience, primary caps rarely fails even if they are Taiwanese. I've seen more cap failed in the secondary from caps likes Teapo, CapXon, Su'scon, LTEC, etc. Either way, they both used 85C Japanese Primary caps, and 105C secondary (Su'scon on the Neo ECO, CapXon on the CX). Not really great...Although, the NeoECO does have a ball bearing fan, as opposed to the sleeved bearing fan on the CX. Also, they are both group-regulated, which I'm not expected much from either of them when dealing with voltage regulation.

They are both entry level PSUs, that the NEO Eco is a little better. If it was me, I would go with the Cooler Master G550M in the same price range. It offer more usable power, semi-modularity, and a DC-DC VRM for better voltage stability overall.
