Is this normal? (cooler master nepton 240m)

k then just tilt the PC either forwards or backwards, so that the side with the barbs is the highest point.

you dont need to remove or reposition the cooler at all, just tilt the PC a little, put a couple books under the front or back depending where the barbs are.

if the barbs are closer to the front, tilt the PC back a little. if they are closer to the back, tilt the PC forward :)

then just leave it in that position for a while. you can use the PC normally no problem

Hello, I recently purchased a cooler master nepton 240m to replace the stock cooler on my fx-8350, the main reason I got this rather then the 280L is because it was supposed to be quieter but when I put it in my system I noticed this noise coming from the cpu block/pump and I was wondering if this was normal or if mine is faulty, its fine if it is normal because my headset cancels it out but if im not getting the silence I payed for... well... you know... I want to get what I payed for...

thankyou

A lot of times the CLC systems will make some noise until the unit breaks in - I have a 240 Seidon from Cooler Master and it made noise for about 5 minutes until things calmed down.

That being said I'd read the instructions as I believe mine had mentioned noise on initial operation was normal and to proceed with usage.

It sounds like you have air in the loop. You should position the radiator so that the bars with the tubing is the highest point of the loop. This may require you to tilt your PC a little.

Leave it in this position for a couple weeks, then put it back down normal and the noise should go away.

the bars? is that the part where the tubing connects to the radiator or the fins on the radiator or something?

k then just tilt the PC either forwards or backwards, so that the side with the barbs is the highest point.

you dont need to remove or reposition the cooler at all, just tilt the PC a little, put a couple books under the front or back depending where the barbs are.

if the barbs are closer to the front, tilt the PC back a little. if they are closer to the back, tilt the PC forward :)

then just leave it in that position for a while. you can use the PC normally no problem

  • 2 weeks later...

just wanted to check if this was correct... i have attached a png of how my cooler is mounted the right side is the front of the case, i have placed a phonebook under the front of the case so that its tilted the direction of the arrow... is this correct? because it hasnt really done anything that i have noticed... hopefully the noise eventually goes away, i have also contacted cooler master support and they said that i might need to rma it but if its avoidable i would like to do it as i dont want to have to deal with termal paste.... thankyou...
