440W on a 500W PSU - Is This Cutting It Too Close?

So I am hoping to add in a Sapphire Tri-X R9 280X soon, and I am in a state of annoyance as there is a great deal on it, however pcpartpicker estimates my wattage to be 440W and I only have a 500W PSU.  eXtreme's calculator recommends a minimum of 463W, and at 100% peak load, my system will draw 513W.  Is this cutting it too close?

I'd suggest upgrading then the cx line are pretty poor for the price compared to other options.

you will be fine with the 500 watt psu ....

There really is (almost) no single gpu build, that can't be powered with a 500watt psu ...

 

 

worst case scenario -> psu/pc turns off when over current protection kicks in
