Green pixels in dense pixel areas

TrulyNolan
Go to solution Solved by Darkman,

I would say is it the monitor dying, but you said it has been occurring with the new GPU? Does this happen on other GPUs and did you try a whole new cable?

Can't figure out what's going on. I get flashing green pixels in what I would assume are dense pixel areas. Mostly happens on pictures, not on video.

I'm running an XFX 260X on a Viewsonic VG2230wm at 1680x1050. This has been happening since I got the card.

It was a bad DVI cable. I switched it out with an HDMI to DVI.

Did you OC it? Might just be a bad card if its only happening to that card.

I reset the settings to factory default and it's running fine now.

Ah that makes sense, digital cables can have a glitchy "grey" area between working perfectly and just completely stopping. Sounds like your new GPU sends out weaker digital signals.

You might be able to help it by simply wrapping the cable in some extra tin foil around it and making sure it connects to the metal shielding of the DVI cable.

I got it from a friend who had it sitting in a mess up other cables, covered in soda and juice and all other gross shit. I honestly should've expected it.
