Go to solution Solved by EarthboundHero,

You'll be fine. Unless you have a crap board, which you don't, you don't need an AMP for these. They're pretty great by the way. Just be careful because the adjustments are fragile.

This Christmas i will be (hopefully) getting the hyperx cloud gaming headset. Do you guys think i need a headphone amp or would i be fine without. Btw i have an asus maximus vi hero as my mobo and i heard something bout it having a built in amp but im not to sure. Thx in advance.

The impedance is only 60 Ohms, so I think you might be fine without.

It should be perfectly fine without the amp.

The HyperX Cloud are not by any means high impedance headphones. Practically any integrated audio solution will be enough to power them.

Ugh....something's wrong, I can't quote a post at all....

Anyway, to answer 'it's not a high impedance headphone, hence it doesn't need an external amp': I've compared 2 very different impedance headphone, the 35 ohms HE400, and the 300 ohms HD650, plugged to the same device, Ipad 3.

The 35 ohms HE400 needs an amp, while the 300 ohms HD650 doesn't. If you wanna know why: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/247570-sennheiser-hd650-hell-yeah-or-hell-no/page-2#entry3408345
