Linux scaling issue.

Go to solution Solved by Altecice,

yep give up. I spent weeks and weeks trying to get my old laptops SIS gpu to work in linux correctly (I get 1024x768 not my native 1366x768). The issue is SIS is a closed driver and the CEO won't let us have the binary driver so we could possibly create a Linux friendly driver but nope.

Sorry but the best thing you can do is use Ubunutu 12.04 for 1024x768 (luckily i only use it for FTP/NAS so idm that resolution)

So I downloaded linux(xubuntu) on my old laptop and the scaling is huge ex one post from the forum takes up almost the whole screen. It never did this in windows 7. How do i fix this issue?

edit:oh here are the specs

Pentium T3400 @ 2.16GHz

2 GB RAM

some SIS  gpu

yeah you won't ever get native i'm afraid 12.04 is able to display 1024x768. Any later and you will be stuck on 640x480 :(

But DON'T update anything or allow updates during install (the little ticky box during install) or you will get some new version of the GPU driver and be forced back to 640x480.
