I'd like an HDMI dongle that simply lets me play an offline video off my phone via bluetooth/ WiFi and display it on the TV.

 

And it definitely can not have any online connectivity or subscription-like "features".

 

Is there anything out there like this?

I try very hard to not ever give google any money, plus, I said it had to be fully offline in every way - I also just know Google will retroactively shoehorn some kind of DRM into the thing. I trust them about as far as I can spit them.

ms is suppose to release a miracast dongle soon for 60$ you could wait for that, same form factor as the chromecast

Or you could join the kickstarter for the matchstick dongle from mozilla I think.
