LG 25UM65-P

TM3
Go to solution Solved by Geekazoid,

That's the reason I changed my mind about the 25UM65. The 29 inch version looks to be a good compromise. Its the smallest I would go if I were still considering this path.

Ah okay. Yes, the 29" one would be the one you'd wanna go with if you were still wanting to go with a 21:9 display. ;)

Hi, I was looking to get a new monitor because my old one died on me about 2 days ago. I stumbled upon the LG 25UM65-P   A.K.A the LG Ultrawide Monitor.

I have a rig from 2013

- i5 3550k

- Gigabyte GTX 660 2GB

and was wondering what kind of performance could I expect with my rig. Thank you for the help :)

I believe it's about 33% harder to run than a regular 16:9 monitor.

So, take the frame rates you get now, reduce by 33%, voila.

Ah, correct. I was thinking the 1440p monitor.

This is 25% harder to run. 25% more pixels.

I was really interested in this type of monitor too. The 25UM65 you mentioned is the baby one. Its apparently thin on the vertical measurement. True 8bit colour though. Not sure about performance in a frames per second sense.

I have heard that while support for widescreen is becoming more common it is still very hit and miss with some titles. Stretched hud, distorted corners etc. Even on "supported games".

Just something I thought you guys should know. The LG 25UM65 is in fact equivalent to a 20" monitor in height.

Have a look: http://www.displaywars.com/20-inch-16x9-vs-25-inch-21x9

Any one ever used the smaller 25UM55-P?

Smaller but plenty big for my tiny pad, and it's a glossy screen which is a must for me.

Intel 5820K ¬ ASUS x99 Deluxe ¬ HyperX Predator 3000Mhz 16gb ¬ Gigabyte Titan X ¬ SuperFlow Leadex 850W ¬ Crucial Mx100 512Gb x2 RAID 0 ¬ NZXT H440 + HUE + X61 ¬ ASUS ROG Swift

I too am mildly interested in this. From the reviews I've seen however there is a theme of being disappointed in the screen real estate. Furthermore I was under the impression that it was a glare reduction surface not gloss but I could be wrong.
