Intel Core i7-2600K 35 - 40 degrees Celcius at idle with H80i

Go to solution Solved by Sonefiler,

Those are fine temps. actually not bad.

So as the title states, I'm getting 35C to 40C at idle for my 2600K with a H80i (push/pull; exhaust), which was recently attached. At 100% load on stock clocks, temps get to about 65o C, and to around 68o C when OC'd to 4.2 GHz.  My ambient temperature ranges from 23o C to 26o C. Are these temperatures typical of said cooler and CPU combo? Or maybe I need to reapply thermal paste/reseat the pump? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That sounds about right to me, presuming your ambient temperature (which plays a big part in the temps) aren't REALLY cold

Ah okay. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting poor temperatures since I've heard a lot of people having problems with the H80i. Thanks for your help guys  :)  :)

And your problem is???

Was just making sure if everything is working fine, since I've seen people getting lower temps with the H80i. I guess ambient temperature has a lot to do with that.

well the H80i doesnt perform that great for the price when compaired to many standard air coolers that's the problem...but it does looks better. it's a trade off for pump noise though.

yes if your ambient are high ATM it certainly have a big effect on CPU temps, sure.

Yeah I was considering getting the Phanteks TH-PC14PE or the Noctua NH-D14, but my case barely has any room in it. Heck, it took me 2 hours to get the H80i fitted in there (granted I had to mod the case since the screw holes wouldn't align), so the Phanteks or the Noctua would have made it impossible to do anything inside the case once they were fitted. So I went with the convenience as well as the aesthetics of the H80i. Overall I'm satisfied, since it's loads better than my old Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 pro cooler.
