Is the EVGA 500B enough for Core i5 4460 & GTX 750 Ti

re SSD caching, why not?

I plan to use the SSD as a boot drive and store everything else in the 1TB HDD. w/ SSD caching, the most frequently accessed files/ programs will run very fast, I think its a huge advantage/ great feature to have.

 

re getting a better GPU, okay thanks!  :)

 

Personally I just shove the OS, editing programs and a few games on my SSD, honestly most programs and games have negligible benefit when most load super fast off the HDD anyway especially when your OS is on the SSD

 

Or you could grab another cheap drive and put them in raid 0 for faster storage (something i do with all my drives where possible)

 

I guess it depends what the PC is for though

 

If its purely a Gaming + browsing pc, there are things I would sacrifice for better game performance, if you are going for a more balanced rig, then what you are doing makes some kind of sense

 

But again this is all just my opinion

Hello everyone!

 

Its my first time to build a custom PC!

Is the EVGA 500B 500w psu enough for a system running core i5 4460 & a palit gtx 750 ti stormx dual?

 

if yes, will I be pushing it already?

I mean is there still headroom to consider an upgrade or possible component aging or something?

---- if there is still room, up to what GPU can the 500w psu handle without pushing it to the limit?

 

According to cooler master's psu calculator, my system will be using 284W

But according to Palit's site, the minimum recommended system power is 300W

Case:             Coolermaster N300

You do not need a z97 if you are using a 4460, get a cheaper h81 or b85 board and a better GPU! or get the 4670k!

 

@ShadowCaptain, I plan to use intel smart response technology (SRT)/SSD caching for the 1TB WD drive so I need a H87 or H97 motherboard at least.

I chose the H97 so that I don't have to update the bios.  :)

Just thinking that. Maybe squeeze in a 270x (not sure what the prices are like but i assume they are close)

Oh ok (also I just realied it was an H97 bored) I should learn to read more :P

 

I have never really bothered with SSD caching tbh

 

Was just trying to find a way of getting you a better GPU but staying in budget :)
