New built PC won't boot up!

Go to solution Solved by c3p0,

This should work with your board. As they pretty much use all the same bios.

Writing it down as I has nothing else to do.

Download

http://rufus.akeo.ie/downloads/rufus-1.4.9.exe

http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/7851v17.zip

Run the tool and select

  • Quick format
  • Create bootable disk useing msdos
  • Create extended label

After formating unzip the content from the zip to the usb drive. There is a folder in the zip. So make sure to copy the 3 files within the folder

  • 7851v1x
  • AFUDE238
  • E7851IMS.170

Are the 3 files to copy

Boot into the usb selecting legacy boot not efi boot

Type afude238 e7581ims.170

If it won't start try type the names in capitals

Hit enter and wait for complete. Don't pull the power or reset. This will brick your board!

Bye LTT. That was an interesting journey on this board. At least here you see how not to do it. I'll go shaking my head about this place.

I called the reseller and I am now going to "trade" the i5 4460 (Costa Rica) for an 4430 or 4440.

Now one last question before I go and deliver this one - The 4440 needs an 7851v11 BIOS/UEFI, the 4430 needs the 7851v10.

The one I used with this Motherboard before, the 4670k, needs an 7851v10.

Should I risk another incompatibility by taking the 4440 @3,1GHz or just take the 4430 @3GHz and have the same required Version?

Of course, it is completly normal to have a GPU at 90°c all the time <_<

Love you all - thanks for helping me! ^_^

You can flash to the latest bios as this is backwards compatible to older cpu's.

Thank you for your time :)

But this needs me to undo my complete PC on which I am writing now, and in my opinion this is not worth the difference between a 4460 @3,2GHz and a 4430 @3GHz (they not even overclock so...)

Of course, it is completly normal to have a GPU at 90°c all the time <_<

No I meant after installing the 4th gen haswell 4430 you should flash the bios anyways to avoid future problems. When your friend upgrade in the future to a better cpu it will run into the same issue again. So do the future-you a favour and flash it once you get the 4430.

First off - thank you for helping me figure out the issue!

I now got the 4460 to the vendor and I now have to wait about 2-5 days for the new one to arrive - I'll get back to you guys then :)

  • 2 weeks later...

A really big thank you to you (lol) :D

Yep, that was the problem! Funny enough, it was not my fault but the search engine's one - On the main filters you can seperate between Haswell and HW-Refresh but in the product description itself it only said HASWELL so I thought it should work fine <_<

My "customer"/friend is happy and can now play BF4 on Ultra ;)

Have a nice day!
