Finished my build, and have another problem.

After installing my operating system to my computer (windows 7), I installed the driver from my gpu, and installed the drivers from my motherboard through another computer using a usb (brother threw out mobo box with drivers). My mobo is a msi Z87-G45. However, I cannot connect to the internet still? Previously, the internet connection told me to install the driver, but I have installed all of them? What should I do?

Are you connecting via ethernet ? (Obviously you need a card if your mobo doesnt have wifi card built in to connect to wifi)

Try searching for more versions of the drivers up to date, make sure its proper version aka 64 not 32

Try asking their customer service.

ONBoard LAN is a builtin Ethernet adapter. Every MOBO comes with that now. It's for connecting using a wired connection. You need a wifi card basically. You know the small slots below your gpu? Thats where it goes.

I think they're all called PCIE. But the smaller ones use wireless cards.

You can also purchase a Wireless dongle.

 

Aka, a USB-Input adapter that Receives a WiFi connection. This should be matched up with your router. Usually, I recommend same brand. But also, if your router is an N router, get an N adapter. If it's the new AC, get the same-brand AC WiFi adapter.

 

Or, as others mentioned above, you can get a PCIE WiFi Card.

 

Either way, I hope that helps. Just another option.

 

Also, when installing drivers, a tip I always give is start with the Motherboard drivers first. No, this won't usually mess anything up if you don't, but it's foolproof. The first one I always download is the Chipset, then Wireless (if client is using it) and then the rest of the MoBo drivers, before I move on to the GPU drivers, and the rest. Just a small tip!

So you've got two different types.

 

PCI

&

PCI-E

 

Figure out which one you'd like to put the card in, and buy the card appropriate for that slot.

The easiest solution is the WiFi Adapter. It's also the cheaper solution. The only drawback I can think of is that it uses a USB port, versus a PCIE Slot... Not really of utter importance either way you choose.

However, from what I remember researching back in the day, you may get a better/more stable connection using PCIE/PCI.

 

As far as finding whether its B,G,N or AC, find the model number, and then check the manufacturers website. Or, tell me the model and I would be glad to make it easy for you and give you the answer.
