Steam lost game library location

Go to solution Solved by brownninja97,

I checked after I rebooted, nothing was any different than before it happened. So idk what happened? Probably windows got confused.

What do I do about the missing game library?

is your library still undetectable, you could reinstall steam, it leaves your games there, alternatively you could move all your games and then tell steam where they are now placed.

So yesterday I finally got around to downloading Metro LL and decided to try it out to see how it'd run on my old as heck graphics card. It runs just as poor as the 2033, I clearly need an upgrade :P

Anyway, at the same time had utorrent going in the background, and when I exit Metro I see it says "disk overloaded 100%" and everything has stopped. From then on things just kept getting worse and all my drives became pretty much unresponsive. I couldn't open them up in windows explorer, it took a few attempts to get resource manager open, and once it was it wasn't even showing all the info for all the drives, be everything that was happening was happening slow, even on the SSD. After I closed it I couldn't get it to work again. I couldn't end tasks, and it wouldn't log off either. So I just manually reset it and it started up fine, everything seemed normal, utorrent was kinda screwed and had lost all the history, but the files it was downloading continued once I added them again.

Then I noticed that Steam said Metro: LL wasn't installed, so I check for the game files and they are there. I press install and it does a check and finds that everything is there. Then later on I notice that a bunch of other games have gone missing, so I check my library files and find them in there, but when I click install in steam it just starts downloading. Then I realize it is saving them to the wrong library so I get it to delete what it has done, and go to start again, selecting the correct library this time. But the library wasn't there as an option, and all the other missing games are from the same library. I check the settings for the library locations and the library from one drive just isn't there. However Metro: LL was from the intact library but still was shown as not yet installed.

What can i do about the other library of games that are missing if steam seems to ignore the existence of the library? I wouldn't mind moving everything to the same place so if I can just copy them to the library it still knows of and it will find them there, then now is the time

Oh so if I could could just create a new library where they are and then I will be able to get it to find them again?

Cool I'll try that when I get home
